This year I’ve explored my own second chapter in a new part of LA, new rhythms, new version of myself. I’ve also spent a lot of alone, but never lonely. What I craved most wasn’t company, but a community of like-minded women I could actually build with.

Then it hit me: to be a villager, you have to create the village.

So I called my friend Kat, the queen of connection and we organized an intimate dinner salon in a week. One table, one date and a room full of women who said “yes.” That’s how the Full Bloom Dinner was born. Not from a business plan but from a need.

The women who showed up proved it

On paper, our guest list had almost nothing in common. They came from different industries, ages, backgrounds but one thread pulled it all together: every woman was in her second chapter. The real estate agent who used to be a publicist. The longtime educator now modeling in front of the camera. Story after story with the same arc: I built one life. Now I’m building the next one on purpose.

Reinvention can be lonely especially when you’re between the woman you were and the woman you’re becoming. Most rooms don’t know what to do with you. The Bloom Dinner is the room that does. No pitching. No performing. Just women trading contacts, opening doors and saying the words we all need to hear: I see it for you.

Threads of Resilience: What I Learned Hosting the Neococo Collective at the Goethe-Institut

Last week I had the honor of hosting and moderating “Threads of Resilience,” the closing conversation for the Neococo Collective’s exhibition at the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles.
