Meet Rachel, the confidence catalyst behind Hot Girl July who turned a simple self-love experiment into a movement that’s changing how women show up for themselves. What started as “30 days of treating myself like I am hot” has become a powerful reminder that confidence isn’t something you find—it’s something you practice. Rachel’s approach isn’t about external validation or superficial changes; it’s about the radical act of treating yourself with the same energy you’d give someone you absolutely adore. In a world that profits from women’s insecurities, Rachel is reminding us that the most rebellious act of self-love is believing you’re already enough, then acting like it every single day. This is what happens when you stop waiting for permission to love yourself and start living like the “hot girl” you’ve always been.

Tell us briefly about the impetus to create @hotgirljuly.
Earlier this year, my close friend went through an unexpected divorce. In the midst of the grief, I felt like anything is possible. If I can’t be sure where life is leading, I might as well live it the way I want to!
Did you always struggle with self-confidence?
Yes! I have a memory from about age four when I quit dance class, not because I didn’t like, but because I felt intimidated interacting with the other little girls.

1. Zelinda Blouse $150 2. Fenty Treatz Hydrating + Strengthening Lip Oil, $25
3. Rainbow Stone Necklace $50 4. Lisana Blouse $125 5. Zelinda Blouse $150
6.Ramos Natural Snake $119 7. Wedelia Bustier Midi Dress $168
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
Mostly, I wanted to see if trying to change would make a difference. I’ve been scared of even trying. In less than 3 weeks I can already see huge differences in my confidence.
“Hot” is subjective. Who are some of you hot girl icons?
I love that Beyonce is sexy and confident for herself, not for the male gaze. I also love Chappell Roan for rocking wild hair and fun costumes.
What are some “hot girl” brands you want to include in your wardrobe moving forward?
I think my dream wardrobe would be 80% Sezane!

Any advice to women wanting to break out and embrace their highest selves?
Treat yourself like you’d treat one of your closest friends! Notice the small changes, they add up!
What is your favorite thing you’ve learned about yourself through this process?
With unexpected success on instagram, I’ve gotten a lot of unsolicited advice. I’ve found that I’m able to take what’s useful to me and ignore the rest. It’s affirming to learn that I’m open to feedback but aware of my boundaries.
Can’t Live Without?
Lots and lots of diet soda!
Favorite spot in your city to feel hot?
The National Museum of American History in D.C. has a permanent exhibition of first lady dresses. It’s like a year round Met Gala!
What does a life well-styled mean to you?
A life lived on purpose.
